Saxer Lücke
A winter, and summer wonderland in the Suisse Alps
Saxer Lücke, Swisse
Our two trips to Saxer Lücke in Switzerland were nothing short of extraordinary, each offering a unique and breathtaking experience. In winter, the landscape was a stunning snow-covered wonderland, with the white peaks and frozen lakes offering a magical atmosphere.
Returning in summer, the same mountains were transformed into a beautiful scene of green meadows with colorful wildflowers, and the warm sun shining on the incredible rock formations. Both visits, though contrasting in season, showcased the timeless beauty and versatility of Saxer Lücke, making it a truly unforgettable destination in every season.
Our trip in the winter
Visiting in December, it was such an incredible experience hiking to the Saxer Lücke. However, it is completely different to the hike in summer, and we had to adjust to the weather conditions.
Our winter wonderland adventure:
We parked our car at the Sigelbahn Talstation. Both of the times we visited, therewas enough space for parking, even in the peak hiking season in summer. We started our hike, which was really really steep in the beginning, and soon, the trail was covered in snow. Our hiking poles came quite handy, as it was a liitle slippery.
Our first stop was at the Lake Sämtisersee. It was covered in ice, and we only saw a couple of people to this point. As we made our way to the Saxer Lücke, the trail got really snowy, and it was a tough, yet beautiful hike.
Arriving at the Bollenwees, and the Fälensee, we could grasp a climpse of the monumental rock formation. Being so close, we only had a short hike ahead of us, but we did not see any opportunity, to climb that last part, as the trail was completetly covered in snow. We decided to return, as there was no chance of getting up safely (when we returned in summer, we both agreed that it would not have been impossible for us to get up).
All in all, it was such a beautiful hike, but be aware, that you will probably not make it to the Saxer Lücke in winter, unless you have the right gear, and experience!
A summer return:
When we returned in the summer for our unfinished business, we took the exact same route. It was so interesting to compare these landscapes. What has been covered in snow, suddelny turned into blue lakes, a vibrant green meadows with cettle grazing, and blooming wildflowers. The hiking lodges were filled with hikers, and the athmosphere turned from this calm, and lonely place into a vibrant hiking route.
We finally made it to the top of the Saxer Lücke, and the views were just incredible. Walking on these mountain crests, was so surreal. After the hike, we took some time at the Fälensee to relax, and enjoy our snacks. We are very happy that we returned, and got to witness this beautiful landscape!
Please let us know, if you have any questions regarding our trips to the Saxer Lücke. We are happy to hear from you!
